About my privacy policy

I care a lot about your privacy. I therefore only process data that I need for (improving) my services and handle the information I have collected about you and your use of my services with care.

I never make your data available to third parties for commercial purposes.

This privacy policy applies to the use of the website and the associated services of Hugs and Things. The effective date for the validity of these conditions is 01/06/2021. Publishing a new version will void all previous versions.

This privacy policy describes what information about you is collected by me, what this information is used for and with whom and under what conditions this information may be shared with third parties.

I also explain how I store your data and how I protect your data against misuse and what rights you have with regard to the personal data you provide to me.

About data processing

Below you can read how I process your data, where I store it, which security techniques I use and for whom the data is visible.

Online store software: Shopify

My online store was developed with software from Shopify. Personal data that you make available to me for the benefit of my services will be shared with this party. Shopify has access to your data to provide me with (technical) support, they will never use your data for any other purpose.
Shopify is obliged to take appropriate security measures based on the agreement I have concluded with them. Shopify uses cookies to collect technical information regarding your use of the software, no personal data is collected and/or stored.

Email and mailing list: MailChimp

I send my email newsletters with MailChimp. MailChimp will never use your name and email address for its own purposes. At the bottom of every email sent automatically via my website you will see the 'unsubscribe' link. If you click here and confirm your unsubscription, you will no longer receive the newsletter in the future. Your personal data is stored securely by MailChimp. MailChimp uses cookies and other internet technologies that provide insight into whether emails are opened and read. MailChimp reserves the right to use your data to further improve its services and to share information with third parties in this context.

Business email:

I use Shopify's email services for my regular business email traffic. This party has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent misuse, loss and corruption of your and our data as much as possible. Shopify does not have access to my mailbox and I treat all my email traffic confidentially.

Payment processor: Shopify Payments

I use the Shopify platform to process iDeal and other payments in my online store. Shopify processes your name, address and place of residence details and your payment details such as your bank account number, so that a thorough customer due diligence can be carried out on the basis of a legal obligation, prior to providing Shopify's services.

Payment processor: pay afterwards with Billink

I use the services of Billink to make it possible for you to first receive your order and then pay. This requires data to be sent to Billink. Billink says the following about this on the website (abbreviated):

Reviews: WebwinkelKeur

I collect reviews via the WebwinkelKeur platform. If you leave a review via WebwinkelKeur, you are required to provide your name, place of residence and email address. WebwinkelKeur shares this information with me so that I can link the review to your order. WebwinkelKeur also publishes your name and place of residence on its own website. In some cases, WebwinkelKeur may contact you to provide an explanation of your review. If I invite you to leave a review, I will share your name and email address with WebwinkelKeur. They only use this information for the purpose of inviting you to leave a review.

WebwinkelKeur has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. WebwinkelKeur reserves the right to engage third parties to provide services, I have given WebwinkelKeur permission for this. All the above-mentioned guarantees with regard to the protection of your personal data also apply to the parts of the services for which WebwinkelKeur engages third parties.

Shipping and logistics: MyParcel/PostNL

If you place an order with me, it is my job to have your envelope or package delivered to you. I use the services of MyParcel/PostNL to carry out deliveries. It is therefore necessary that I share your name, address and residence details with MyParcel/PostNL.

MyParcel/PostNL only uses this information for the purpose of executing the agreement. In the event that PostNL engages subcontractors, PostNL will also make your data available to these parties.

Invoicing and accounting: E-Bookkeeping

I use the services of E-Bookkeeping to maintain my administration and accounting. I share your name, address and residence details and details regarding your order. This data is used to administer sales invoices. Your personal data is sent and stored protected. E-Bookkeeping is obliged to maintain confidentiality and will treat your data confidentially. E-Bookkeeping does not use your personal data for purposes other than those described above.

Purpose of data processing
General purpose of the processing

I only use your data for the purpose of providing my services. This means that the purpose of the processing is always directly related to the order you place/the purchase you make. I do not use your data for (targeted) marketing. If you share information with me and I use this information to contact you at a later time - other than at your request - I will ask your explicit permission to do so.
Your data will not be shared with third parties, other than to comply with accounting and other administrative obligations. These third parties are all obliged to maintain confidentiality on the basis of the agreement between them and me or an oath or legal obligation.
 

Automatically collected data

Data that is automatically collected by my website is processed with the aim of further improving my services. This data (for example your IP address, web browser and operating system) is not personal data.

Cooperation in tax and criminal investigations

In appropriate cases, Hugs and Things may be required by law to share your data in connection with government tax or criminal investigations. In such a case I am forced to share your data, but I will oppose this within the possibilities offered by the law.

Retention periods

I will keep your data as long as you are a customer of mine. This means that I keep your customer profile until you indicate that you no longer wish to use my services. If you report this to me, I will also regard this as a request to be forgotten.
Based on applicable administrative obligations, I must keep invoices with your (personal) data. I will therefore keep this data for as long as the applicable period runs.

Your rights

Under applicable Dutch and European legislation, you as a data subject have certain rights with regard to the personal data processed by or on behalf of me.

Below I explain which rights these are and how you can invoke these rights.

In principle, to prevent misuse, I only send copies and copies of your data to the email address you already know. In the event that you wish to receive the data at a different e-mail address or, for example, by post, I will ask you to identify yourself.

I keep records of completed requests. In the event of a request to forget, I administer anonymized data. You can make a request to that effect by sending an email to info@hugs-and-things.nl . You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, I will send you a confirmation that the data has been adjusted to the email address known to me.

Right to restriction of processing

You always have the right to limit the data that I process or have processed that relates to your person or can be traced back to you. You can make a request to this effect by sending an email to info@hugs-and-things.nl. You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, I will send you a confirmation to the email address known to me that the data will no longer be processed until you cancel the restriction.

Right to portability

You always have the right to have the data that I process or have processed and that relate to your person or can be traced back to you, processed by another party. You can make a request to that effect by sending an email to info@hugs-and-things.nl . You will then receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, I will send you copies or copies of all data about you that I have processed or that have been processed on my behalf by other processors or third parties at the e-mail address known to me. In all likelihood, I can no longer continue the service in such a case, because the secure linking of data files can no longer be guaranteed.

Right to object and other rights

Where appropriate, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data by or on behalf of Hugs and Things. If you object, I will immediately stop data processing pending the handling of your objection. If your objection is well-founded, I will make copies and/or copies of data that I process or have processed available to you and then permanently discontinue the processing. Cookies: Google Analytics

Cookies from the American company Google are placed via my website as part of the “Analytics” service. I use this service to track and receive reports on how visitors use the website. This processor may be obliged to provide access to this data based on applicable laws and regulations. We have not allowed Google to use the obtained analytics information for other Google services.
I have indicated to Google that the data obtained may be retained for a maximum period of 14 months (determined by Google).

To prevent you from always losing the contents of your shopping cart, the online store uses temporary cookies.

Changes to the privacy policy

I reserve the right to change my privacy policy at any time. However, you will always find the most recent version on this page. If the new privacy policy has consequences for the way in which I process already collected data relating to you, I will inform you by e-mail.
